Abstract

The main aim of the study is to find the relationship between night shift and marital life of employees working in the call center industry at Chennai. The study focuses on the impact of night shift on the marital life of the employees and the effects of night shift on child rearing. A total of 205 samples were taken out of 275 and SEM was run to find the relationship. The author used age, gender, position, no of years in night shift and no of years married as the independent variable where as Marital life and Child rearing was used as the dependent variable to find the relationship. The author used SEM analysis to find the relationship between the Independent and Dependent variables. The model was found fit to prove that there is a relationship between night shift and the marital life as well as child rearing. The Analysis shows that there exists a relationship between night shift problems, age, number of years married and number of years in night shift with marital life and child rearing. The paper necessitates practical implications as well as social implications. The paper classifies the effects of night shift incorporating marital satisfaction as the main criteria for the research. The article highlights the problems faced by the married employees in fulfilling their marital commitments and marital obligations as well as its effects on the children, their studies and their growth. This study would be a true eye opener for the organizations that work round the clock.
