Abstract

This chapter critically examines the relationship between India's economic growth and its progress toward the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in driving sustainable change. Over the past 20 years, India has become one of the world's fastest-growing economies, but this growth must be inclusive and sustainable to meet SDG targets. PPPs, combining the innovation and efficiency of the private sector with the public sector's social responsibility, have proven crucial in areas like infrastructure, renewable energy, healthcare, education, and sanitation. The chapter reviews case studies and government programs, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in PPP governance, financial models, and policy environments. It also offers recommendations to enhance PPP effectiveness through better stakeholder alignment and sustainable investment practices.
