Abstract

The rear axle casing of a tractor is a critical component that plays a pivotal role in the functionality and safety of the entire vehicle. This study presents a comprehensive investigation into the design and analysis of tractor rear axle casings, aiming to enhance their performance, durability, and efficiency. The study begins with a review of the current state-of-the-art in rear axle casing design, highlighting the importance of this component within the tractor’s drive train system. Key design parameters, such as load distribution, material selection, and geometry, are examined, considering factors like the tractor’s power, load capacity, and operating conditions. The objective is to develop a casing design that maximizes structural integrity while minimizing weight and material costs. Material selection is a crucial aspect of the design process, as it directly impacts the casing’s weight, durability, and cost-effectiveness. The study explores various materials, such as cast iron, steel, and composite materials, considering their mechanical properties and manufacturing feasibility. Additionally, the research explores the potential for integrating innovative technologies, such as lightweight materials, additive manufacturing, and advanced coatings, to further optimize the rear axle casing’s design. By optimizing their design and materials, tractors can become more efficient, cost-effective, and safe, benefitting both agricultural productivity and the environment.
