Abstract

Background: Ethical behaviour in the workplace determines a lot about workers' behaviour, degree of satisfaction, and company growth. The nature of the operations carried out by manufacturing industries creates particular ethical challenges. Problem Statement: Among these challenges are those connected to respect of environmental standards, following safety regulations, and labour management. Manufacturing sectors are one well-known main driver of economic growth. This study seeks to understand how Chennai-based manufacturing sector employees see workplace ethics. Objective: The objective is to identify the main factors influencing their points of view and evaluate how these opinions influence organisational performance and employee satisfaction. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining into its methodology qualitative interviews with quantitative questionnaires. Three hundred employees of ten different manufacturing companies answered well crafted questionnaires. The polls addressed ethical-related standards including conflict resolution, openness, fairness, and safety compliance. Findings: Statistical tools enable the quantitative study to reveal that 78% of workers believe that ethical behaviour is essential for job satisfaction and that 65% of them think that a lack of ethical standards drives more turnover rates. Moreover, 72% of the participants underlined the need of moral leadership during the process of creating a decent working culture. Strong ethical systems help businesses to retain 23% more employees and raise general productivity by 18% when compared to companies with less ethical basis. The findings highlight the need of creating a sustainable workplace by means of moral policies and staff member involvement in ethical training courses.
