Abstract

Edible sugar-mediated ZnO nanostructures were synthesized via co-precipitation route for multifunctional applications. The crystalline phase, particle shapes, elemental composition and optical absorption/emission properties of ZnO were explored with the help of XRD, SEM, EDX, UV, and PL spectra. Colour emissions of ZnO are located in bluish-green portion. Photodegradation efficiency was found to be 92 % using synthesized ZnO (photocatalyst) and MB dye solution under UV light. Excellent antioxidant and hemolysis responses of ZnO nanostructures were confirmed via DPPH and hemolysis assays. The antibacterial results of zone of inhibition value of ZnO are 21 mm and 23 mm for S.aureus and E.coli.
