The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) represents a transformative paradigm in healthcare, interconnecting many intelligent medical devices, wearables, and biomedical instruments equipped with sophisticated sensors, software, and communication capabilities. Termed as “smart medical objects,” these devices range from wearable fitness trackers to advanced medical imaging equipment, forming an intricate web of interconnected healthcare technologies. As the healthcare landscape embraces the potential of IoMT to enhance patient care and streamline medical processes, the escalating concern for the security and privacy of sensitive patient data becomes paramount. This paper delves into the evolving realm of IoMT, emphasizing the critical role of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDSs) in mitigating cybersecurity threats within healthcare environments. With IoMT adoption rapidly gaining momentum, the need for robust security measures is underscored by the susceptibility of many IoMT devices to cyber threats.
