Abstract

Objectives: To assess the impairment of health related quality of life in patients with Anorectal disease by
evolving a Questionnaire. To evaluate the impact in the quality of life in patients with Anorectal disease.
Methodology: This method involves prospective analysis of quality of life in men and women with anorectal
disease. The study is carried out by the collection and documentation of general information of the patient
regarding the disease.SF-12 Questionnaire: The SF-12 Health Survey includes 12 questions from the SF-36
Health Survey (Version 1). These include: 2 questions concerning physical functioning; 2 questions on role
limitations because of physical health problems; 1 question on bodily pain; 1 question on general health
perceptions; 1 question on vitality (energy/fatigue); 1 question on social functioning; 2 questions on role
limitations because of emotional problems; and 2 questions on general mental health (psychological distress and
psychological well-being). Results: The study was conducted among 100 patients .There is an extremely significant (P<0.0001**) values were obtained when compared between pre counseling and post counseling phases of knowledge, attitude and perception scores. Conclusion: Hemorrhoids is a common anorectal disease condition seen in almost all the age group except for neonates. Seen from my study that quality of life of patients with hemorrhoids could be improved to some extend with good education regarding the disease.
