Abstract

Wireless applications play an important role in our day today life. But hasty development of wireless applications has made the frequency spectrum a scare resource. The best solution to resolve the problem of spectrum scarcity is Cognitive radio. The secondary users SUs can use the frequency spectrum when the primary users PUs are not present. The cognitive engine is trained to exploit the spectrum, prioritize the smart devices at home using Queuing theory and ensures non-interference with PUs' thereby attains excellent quality of service. Maximum of the earlier works study spectrum sensing or dynamic accessing of the spectrum. In this paper, a framework is been proposed for accessing the spectrum by multiple SUs the multiple channels with cooperative spectrum sensing technique. In order to avoid the interference of PUs with the SUs, the average arrival rate and the data rate of SUs is calculated with the help of queuing theory. Unlike convectional radio, using the cognitive radio we have improved the utilization of the frequency spectrum, the efficiency is improved and excellent performance measures QOS is achieved. CR smart devices like smart grid, security/safety and home automation are used.
