Abstract

Novel method of producing axial and tilted beams of varying degree of elevation using a double square loop (DSL) antenna is proposed. The permittivity of the antenna is changed electronically by using substrates made up of materials such as Liquid Crystals or ferro-electric materials. With this change in permittivity value of dielectric substrate, the DSL produces multiple beams of varying degree of tilt. These beams can be steered at step of 45° throughout the 360° of space using the eight feeding points, thus offering wide range of options for modern wireless devices to focus the beam at a desired target direction.
