Abstract

In this current work, optically transparent single crystals of Glycine Zinc acetate (GZnA) was grown in aqueous solution via slow solvent evaporation technique at room temperature. The synthesized samples were subjected to various characterization studies such as single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Thermogravimetry differential thermal analysis (TG-DTA), Ultraviolet visible (UV-Visible) and Laser damage threshold (LDT) analysis. The monoclinic crystal structure of the grown GZnA sample was confirmed by single crystal XRD studies. The presence of functional groups in GZnA and their vibrational modes were confirmed from FTIR studies. The thermal stability of the GZnA compound was analyzed using TG-DTA analysis. Optical transparency and band gap energy of the grown GZnA compound was examined using UV-Visible analysis. The LDT results demonstrated that GZnA crystal damage withstands up to 14.8 mJ for pulse width 6 ns.
