Abstract
Abstract. In this paper silicon carbide and iron oxide is reinforced with aluminum matrix. The
prepared composite provide high strength than the commercial composite. It provides high
elastic properties and high service temperature. Since this material have great scope in space
application it has been chosen for estimation of fracture toughness. Hence grain size of the
samples increased this is due to the effect of reinforcement bonding with aluminum matrix. The CMOD test has been carried out for this Purpose. Microscopic examination has shown that with increase in of reinforcement test confirmed that with increase in reinforcement ratio the fracture toughness also increased. In this work specimens have been preferred with and without addition of SiC and Fe2O3 to compare the influence. The results are compared and it has been studied that Fracture Toughness increased significantly by addition of inclusions.
