Abstract

This research work investigates the mechanical properties and precipitation effects of duplex aged Al (7075) Al–Zn–Mg–Cu alloy. The SHT temperature is kept constant. The process parameters like single ageing temperature, duplex aging temperature and ageing time were considered at levels to observe the responses like Tensile Strength, Surface Hardness and Wear Behaviour. The full factorial statistical design of experiments (DOE) approach is used for conducting experiments to acquire the influence of these factors and their interaction on the mechanical properties of duplex aged Al (7075) Al–Zn–Mg–Cu alloy. The surface morphological investigations were carried out to analyse the best and worst cases and also used them to validate the suggested duplex aging method.
