Introduction and Aim: Adhesive Capsulitis is one of the common diseases of the shoulder joint. Dysfunction of the subscapularis muscle (trigger points) is a potential factor for consideration in the aetiology of adhesive capsulitis. Subscapularis muscle is often overlooked and therefore undertreated. The aim of the study is to assess the effectiveness of Spray and stretch technique of subscapularis in adhesive capsulitis. Materials and Methods: Thirty subjects suffering from primary adhesive capsulitis were randomly assigned to two groups. Group A was treated with conservative management and group B were administered Spray and Stretch technique along with conservative management. Outcome measures used were the VAS Scale for pain, goniometry for Range of Motion, modified Sphygmomanometer for strength and Shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI) Scale for shoulder functional assessment scores recorded both before and at the end of four weeks. Results: The subjects who received Spray and Stretch Technique along with conservative management showed significant change (p<0.0001) in pain relief, Range of Motion, SPADI. Conclusion: Spray and Stretch technique along with conservative management and conservative management are effective treatment approaches in the management of adhesive capsulitis. © 2017 Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists.
