Abstract

Image Segmentation is the division of image into a set of areas based on the characteristics of pixels. In this research work, left and right palm print of Biometric Ideal Test(BIT) dataset is used. The sample image is preprocessed and suitable filter for the test dataset are identified. The Otsu and Sobel filters are applied separately to the palm print images and latter both the filters are fused together and their mean values determined and comparison done. Using the inference derived from the table values and graph showed that the fused algorithm performed better compared with the existing methods.
