Work-Life Balance in the Age Of AI: Opportunities, Challenges and Employee Well-Being Dr. K. Majini Jes Bella Dr. S. Edmund Christopher
Artificial Intelligence has become an important element of modern workplaces and is transforming the way employees perform their responsibilities. The technologies based on AI are used for task automation, communication, decision-making, performance management and workplace analytics. These developments have created new opportunities for companies to improve productivity while influencing work-life balance of employees. Work-life balance is the ability of individuals to manage professional, family and social responsibilities. The AI integration support work-life balance by improving time management, enabling flexible work arrangements and reducing repetitive tasks. Simultaneously, excessive dependence on AI-systems, employee monitoring, continuous digital connectivity, job insecurity, increased performance expectations and personal boundaries will create new challenges. This study evaluates the relationship between AI and WLB, with attention to flexibility, employee productivity, workload, stress, job satisfaction and well-being. It ascertains the positive and negative effects of artificial intelligence adoption and identifies managerial strategies for developing an employee-centred AI-enabled workplace. This concludes that artificial intelligence contribute to WLB when companies implement it responsibly, maintain human involvement in decision-making and establish clear boundaries between working and personal time.
