Abstract

Social media has emerged as a powerful marketing communication platform, transforming
the way businesses design, deliver, and evaluate advertising campaigns. The rapid growth of
platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, and other digital networks has enabled
marketers to reach targeted audiences with personalized and interactive advertising content.
This empirical study examines the impact of social media marketing on advertising
effectiveness among consumers in Chennai. The study focuses on key dimensions of social
media marketing, including content quality, engagement, interactivity, credibility,
personalization, entertainment, and electronic word-of-mouth, and evaluates their influence
on advertising effectiveness.
The study is expected to provide empirical insights into the relationship between social media
marketing practices and advertising effectiveness. The findings may assist marketers and
business organizations in identifying the social media marketing factors that significantly
influence consumer responses to advertisements. The study also highlights the importance of
creating relevant, credible, engaging, and interactive advertising content to improve
consumer engagement and advertising outcomes. The research provides useful implications
for marketers seeking to develop effective social media advertising strategies in the
competitive digital marketplace of Chennai.
