Abstract

The rapid integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education has opened new possibilities for creating
inclusive and equitable assessment practices that address the diverse learning needs of students. The paper
titled “AI for Inclusive Assessment: Supporting Students with Special and Diverse Needs” examines the
transformative potential of AI-driven technologies in designing accessible, adaptive, and learner-centered
assessment systems. It explores how AI can support students with disabilities, learning difficulties, linguistic
diversity, and varied cognitive abilities by providing personalized assessment experiences that accommodate
individual learning styles and capabilities. The paper discusses the role of AI-based tools such as adaptive
testing systems, speech-to-text applications, automated feedback mechanisms, predictive analytics, and
assistive technologies in reducing barriers to assessment and enhancing learner participation. The study also
emphasizes the importance of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and inclusive pedagogical
practices in the implementation of AI-assisted assessment frameworks. At the same time, the paper critically
examines ethical and practical concerns associated with the use of AI in education, including issues of data
privacy, algorithmic bias, accessibility gaps, teacher preparedness, and overdependence on technology.
Through a conceptual and analytical approach, the study argues that AI should function as a supportive
educational tool that complements human judgment rather than replacing the role of teachers in assessment
processes. The paper concludes that AI has significant potential to foster inclusive assessment practices and
improve educational opportunities for students with special and diverse needs when implemented
responsibly, ethically, and collaboratively.
