Abstract
The evolution of technology has profoundly transformed the
operational landscape of the hospitality industry, particularly within
the front office the central hub of guest interaction and service
delivery. This chapter examines the extensive influence of technology
on front office functions, focusing on how digital innovations have
redefined efficiency, communication, and customer experience in
hotels. Traditionally reliant on manual operations, the front office has
evolved into a technologically advanced service center through the
adoption of systems such as Property Management Systems (PMS),
Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT),
and Mobile Applications. These tools have enhanced accuracy in
reservation management, streamlined check-in and check-out
processes, optimized billing operations, and facilitated seamless
communication across departments. The chapter explores the
transformative role of automation and AI in improving service delivery
through chatbots, self-service kiosks, and predictive analytics, which

enable personalized guest experiences and real-time problem
resolution. Similarly, mobile technology has empowered guests with
autonomy by offering keyless room access, mobile payments, and
instant digital communication with hotel staff, thus extending front
office services beyond the physical boundaries of the reception area.
The integration of cloud-based systems and data analytics has
provided hoteliers with powerful decision-making tools, allowing realtime
performance monitoring, revenue forecasting, and customer
relationship management. Moreover, IoT-enabled devices have
facilitated smart room operations, enhancing both guest convenience
and operational sustainability.
