Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has profoundly reshaped the
operational dynamics of the hospitality industry, particularly in the
domain of front office management. Among the emerging innovations,
Virtual Reality (VR) has become a transformative tool that bridges the
gap between physical service delivery and digital interaction. This
chapter examines the role and impact of Virtual Reality in front office
operations of hotels, emphasizing its contributions to guest
engagement, staff training, marketing, and overall service quality.
Virtual Reality enables guests to experience immersive, threedimensional
simulations of hotel environments, providing realistic
pre-arrival previews of rooms, lobbies, restaurants, and amenities.
These virtual hotel tours assist guests in making informed booking
decisions and enhance their emotional connection with the brand
before their physical arrival. Within the front office, VR serves as an
innovative training platform that allows employees to practice realworld scenarios such as check-in procedures, complaint handling, and emergency management in a safe, controlled, and repeatable environment. Moreover, VR-based virtual concierge systems extend guest assistance through digital avatars or AI-driven interfaces that provide personalized recommendations, service information, and destination guidance, thereby reducing wait times and improving operational efficiency.
