Supply Chain Complexity and Performance in Indian SMEs: The Moderating Role of IT Infrastructure

This study examines the relationship between supply chain complexity and performance in Indian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), with a focus on the moderating role of IT infrastructure. Supply chain complexity has become a critical challenge for SMEs in emerging economies, affecting their operational efficiency and overall performance. The research employs a quantitative approach, collecting data from 250 SME owners and managers across various sectors in India. The findings reveal that supply chain complexity negatively impacts SME performance. However, the presence of robust IT infrastructure significantly moderates this relationship, mitigating the adverse effects of complexity. The study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence from the Indian SME context and offers practical implications for policymakers and business leaders regarding strategic investments in IT infrastructure to enhance supply chain resilience and performance.
