Abstract
The Indian Knowledge System is founded on key principles that emphasize holistic understanding, interconnectedness, and the integration of knowledge with ethical and spiritual
values. Central to IKS is the belief in the unity of all existence, the harmony between humans and nature, and the pursuit of knowledge for the well-being of both the individual and society. It values experiential learning, self-realization, and sustainable living. The collective wisdom, customs, and inventions of societies that have been passed down over the ages are embodied in traditional knowledge (TK). Agriculture, medicine, crafts, folklore, spiritual activities, and environmental management are all included. Traditional knowledge or indigenous knowledge
is developed by local indigenous communities that are well-developed and whose longstanding customs and practices are followed by these communities from generation to
generation. Studies into the origins, behaviour, and development of humanism in both prehistoric and modern societies led to the recognition of traditional knowledge. The Indian Knowledge System is founded on key principles that emphasize holistic understanding, interconnectedness, and the integration of knowledge with ethical and spiritual values. By converting ancient manuscripts, oral narratives, and indigenous practices into digital formats, India can safeguard its intellectual heritage while enabling global access for research, education, and innovation. Digital archives, artificial intelligence, and open epositories offer pathways to revitalise traditional wisdom in fields such as medicine, philosophy, and sustainable living. This paper explores how digitalisation can serve as a bridge between tradition and modernity, while emphasising the need for ethical frameworks that respect cultural sensitivities, ensure inclusivity, and protect community rights.
