Abstract
Purpose: Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is considered to be one of the most important dimensions of organisational identity, and Human Resource Management (HRM) has a major role to play in the implementation of the same. Employee Volunteering Programs (EVPs) are considered to be one of the most effective ways of demonstrating organisational social responsibility, while also enhancing organisational capacity. The paper investigates the role and importance of HRM in the implementation of EVPs. Design/Methodology/Approach: A survey was conducted among 300 HR practitioners from 50 organisations in Tamil Nadu, India, using structured questionnaires and statistical tests including regression analysis. Findings: Organisations with well-planned HR-driven EVPs tend to have higher employee engagement and lower turnover rates. Skills-based EVPs are found to be the most effective for talent management.
