Abstract

Digital transformation has become a defining force in the global tourism industry. In Kerala, popularly known as “God’s Own Country,” the tourism sector has increasingly integrated digital technologies such as Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), online booking systems, digital marketing platforms, e-governance initiatives, and smart tourism solutions. These technological advancements have transformed tourism operations, customer engagement, destination management, and workforce development. Kerala Tourism has emerged as one of India’s leading digitally enabled tourism destinations, supported by strong governmental initiatives and ICT infrastructure.

The adoption of digital technologies has had a significant influence on Human Resources Development (HRD) within Kerala’s tourism sector. Employees are now required to possess digital competencies, technological adaptability, customer relationship management skills, and data-driven decision-making capabilities. Technology has altered recruitment methods, employee training, organizational communication, performance evaluation, and service delivery systems.
