Abstract

Abstract:

During the Sangam period, the Tamil war traditions were based on the method of righteous warfare They divided life into two parts, Agam and Puram, and also developed a grammar for the methods of warfare called Puram. Their war system was honest. At sunrise, they would start the war by shouting. The war lasted only until the sun set. Then they would stop the war by shouting No matter how many days they fought, they had a moral code of not attacking the enemy even if they lost their weapons or were defeated in battle. They fought the next day to give them a fair chance. They had the courage to wait until they came and fight without killing the fleeing enemies. They had the quality of showing mercy to the dead. This article is about the war tradition and culture of such ancient Tamils.
