AI is fast becoming part of BI systems, and this is changing how organizations tackle sustainable development issues. Due to the increasing environmental and social pressures that business entities experience currently, even more, intelligent BI systems present new approaches to reconciling the organization's operations with sustainable management. Thus, this chapter discusses how AI supports the concept of “smart sustainability” by leveraging big data techniques to inform and improve resource decisions and environmental results. With big data self-learning, the AI system finds the patterns, predicts the effects in the future, and provides recommendations for sustainability in several domains, including energy use, waste management, and supply chains.
Hence, it helps businesses measure sustainability risks as well as tracks the present real-time environment and forecast future impacts to align with sustainability objectives. Enabling predictive modeling by machine and deep learning and real-time data analysis, AI contributes to lower carbon footprints and efficient and effective resource and materials utilization, besides supporting the circular economy transition. Moreover, AI increases accountability and allows achieving greater supply chain sustainability and minimizing unethical practices.
At the same time, the chapter also shows how AI can enhance corporate social responsibility (CSR) by automating sustainability reports, allowing companies to conform to regulations as well as to demonstrate their successes. The execution of artificial intelligence systems will enable enterprises to achieve the sustainable practices, which will foster organizational sustainability to reach their desired result on the strategic framework combination. This chapter examines AI's impact on sustainable management from a systematic valuation of knowledge on academic and professional researchers in India.
