Abstract

The rapid growth of the country’s population, urbanization, and industrialization have prompted the excessive extraction of natural resources in India, which is causing the environment to deteriorate rapidly. Preserving the environment and promoting sustainable development are of the utmost importance. Sustainable development was proposed as a solution to the global issue of environmental deterioration. Sustainable development refers to the preservation of natural resources for current as well as potential future
generations. This paper aims to elucidate several facets of sustainable development. It employs a strictly doctrinal research technique, examining the issues of sustainable development now confronted by India. The paper further suggests methods to expedite sustainability that are both
economically achievable and environmentally sound. As many of our natural resources are finite, our collective duty is to use them prudently.
