Hydroponics is the practice of growing plants without the use of soil by putting the roots in a nutrient solution. Other names for it include “soilless culture,” “water culture,” and “solution culture.” It is used to identify the elements that are necessary for plant growth as well as the symptoms that arise when these nutrients are lacking or absent.
