Abstract

This paper proposes a dual-band square patch antenna with four L-shaped stubs with the dimensions of a proposed antenna 54mm×54mm×1.6mm at the operating frequency is 6.8GHz. The square patch antenna with four L-shaped stubs results in a dual-band operation operating in a bandwidth of 810 MHz (7.27GHz to 7.44GHz) and 510MHz (9.70GHz to 9.86GHz) with a peak gain of 1.9dBi at 7.37GHz. To further improve the bandwidth (BW) and peak gain (dBi) the DGS is incorporated. With the incorporation of DGS, a bandwidth of 410MHz (6.29GHz to 6.7GHz) and 710MHz (11.03GHz to 11.74GHz) is obtained with a peak gain of a 3.51dBi at 6.5GHz and 5.79dBi at 11.34GHz. The proposed antenna with DGS is suitable for C & X-band applications. Simulations were carried out using ANSYS HFSS software.
