Abstract

The debt market serves as a cornerstone of a nation's economic architecture,
providing a sophisticated framework for mobilizing, allocating, and pricing creditbased capital. Beyond its essential role in financing government-led developmental
initiatives, the market facilitates a seamless flow of funds from savers to borrowers,
enhancing overall financial efficiency. In emerging economies like India, the Corporate
Bond market is particularly vital, offering a strategic alternative to traditional bank
financing. By acting as a financial "buffer," it mitigates systemic risks within the
banking sector and provides the long-term capital necessary for large-scale
infrastructure and power projects, which often face maturity mismatches in bank
portfolios. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of the Indian debt market's
significance, exploring its role as a primary catalyst for accelerated macroeconomic
growth and its contribution to long-term industrial and financial stability.
