Abstract

Water scarcity and inefficient irrigation practices pose significant challenges to sustainable
agriculture. This paper proposes a Smart Irrigation System (SIS) leveraging Internet of
Things (IoT) technologies to optimize water usage, improve crop yield, and reduce manual
intervention. The system integrates soil moisture sensors, weather data, and cloud-based
analytics to automate irrigation scheduling. Experimental results demonstrate that IoTenabled irrigation reduces water consumption by up to 30% compared to traditional methods,
while maintaining or improving crop productivity.
