Abstract

Diabetes mellitus, which affects billions of people worldwide, has quietly emerged as one of the largest and most important health crises of our time. As indicated by new estimates, nearly half of the 387 million people living with diabetes are undiagnosed. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) offers new avenues of hope. AI is helping us revisit how we recruit, track, and treat diabetes based on large volumes of health data to predict patterns and tailor interventions. There is potential to combine ideas from clinical practice and nutrition science with computational biology to consider prospects and challenges to using AI in achieving patient- centered, sustainable health outcomes. This review focuses on AI driven innovation in diabetes management, AI and precision medicine, AI interventions in nutrient plan and their future perspectives.
