Abstract
The emergence of Property Management Systems (PMS) has
revolutionized the operational and service landscape of the modern
hospitality industry, transforming the traditional manual front office
functions into a highly automated and data-driven process. This
chapter provides a comprehensive exploration of PMS, highlighting
its features, functions, and the wide range of interfaces that connect
it with other critical hotel systems. The PMS serves as the
technological backbone of hotel operations, integrating departments
such as front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, accounting,
and maintenance through a centralized digital platform. By
automating routine administrative tasks, it ensures higher
operational efficiency, real-time coordination, and enhanced guest
satisfaction. The chapter elaborates on the core features of PMS,
including reservation management, front desk operations,
housekeeping coordination, billing and accounting, guest profiling,

reporting, and analytics. These modules not only improve service
accuracy but also contribute to data-based decision-making and
revenue optimization. Additionally, the discussion extends to the
interfaces that enable PMS to communicate with external and
internal systems such as the Central Reservation System (CRS),
Global Distribution System (GDS), Channel Manager, Point of Sale
(POS), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Revenue
Management System (RMS), and accounting platforms. These
integrations facilitate seamless information flow, eliminate
duplication of work, and ensure consistency across all guest
touchpoints.
