Abstract

An inventory model is explored to determine the best replenishment policy to minimise total cost. The Wagner-Whitin algorithm is used to determine total cost, and it divides the planning horizon into sub-periods. This study compares individual and combined replenishment policies for inventory items. Analysing the demand patterns of the single and joint replenishment policies, it may be used to understand the underlying demand behaviour and how it affects inventory costs, and using fractal principles to support the outcome. Through this approach, it is possible to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of demand and to determine which replenishment technique is most effective.
