Abstract

For extensive bioinformatics research, it is essential to automate the retrieval of protein data from
online databases. The goal of this project is to create a Python-based automation system that uses
Selenium WebDriver to retrieve data about proteins from online repositories. The automation
script retrieves crucial protein information, including sequences, structural details, and functional
annotations, while navigating through pre-defined web pages and interacting with dynamic
content. The system effectively gathers and processes data by utilizing Selenium’s web element
handling capabilities, which minimizes manual labor and enhances reproducibility. The project’s
goal is to make it easier to acquire high-throughput protein data for applications in bioinformatics
and computational biology.
