Abstract

Intheextendedstructureof the titlesalt,C6H9N2 +·C9H8NO3 ·2H2O, the2amino-4-methylpyridin-1-iumcationandhippurate [or 2-(phenylformamido)acetate]anionarelinkedthroughpairedN—H��Ohydrogenbonds,formingan R2 2(8)motif.ThewatermoleculesofcrystallizationparticipateinO—H��Oand N—H��O hydrogen-bonding interactions, which connect the molecular componentsintoone-dimensionalchainsthatextendalongthe[010]direction. These interactions collectively generate a three-dimensional supramolecular network.
