Abstract
Healthcare is an essential industry around the globe, and its ability to maintain quality of services and achieve desired patient outcomes relies heavily on its ability to attract and select qualified professionals through effective recruitment and selection systems. Using three major areas of focus – technological application, talent management, and selection processes – this research study investigates the effectiveness of the recruitment and selection systems in the healthcare industry. Primary data was collected from 78 participants, which included HR consultants, administrative staff, and personnel in a number of different types of healthcare facilities. A standardized Likert-scale questionnaire was administered through the practice of descriptive research. Data was analyzed using business analytics software, including Microsoft Excel and SPSS. Reliability was established using Cronbach’s Alpha, and the results indicate that all of the constructs being measured have acceptable levels of internal consistency (between .860 and .892). Numerous inferential techniques were used including One-Way ANOVA, Independent Samples T-Test, Pearson Correlation, and multiple regression. The results indicated that the use of talent management practices, technology, and the selection process accounted for 67.1% of the variation on recruiting effectiveness (R^2 = 0.671, F = 49.547, p < 0.001). Correlations revealed a strong positive correlation exists between the selection process and talent management (r = 0.796). No significant differences in perception existed based on gender (p = 0.722) or age (p = 0.814). Based upon these findings, organized selection processes and technology (i.e., digital) are critical factors impacting the effectiveness of recruiting in the healthcare field.
