Abstract

This study explores consumer perception of the post-purchase experience among electric vehicle owners in Chennai City. With the growing popularity of electric vehicles in India, the research investigates key factors influencing customer satisfaction and ownership experience, including purchase price, charging features, maintenance costs, battery life and durability, performance and safety features, warranty, and after-sales service. A mixed-method research approach involving surveys and interviews was adopted to collect data from electric vehicle owners across various demographic groups.

The findings indicate that maintenance costs and charging features are the most influential aspects shaping positive post-purchase experiences, while battery life and durability received comparatively lower satisfaction levels. Consumers expressed high satisfaction with the overall performance of electric vehicles and fuel cost savings. The study also revealed significant variations in consumer perceptions across age groups, especially regarding purchase price, charging features, performance, safety, and after-sales service. The research concludes that improving charging infrastructure, warranty services, and battery durability can significantly enhance customer satisfaction and accelerate electric vehicle adoption in India
