Abstract

ABSTRACT India operates on a single time zone Indian Standard Time (IST) at UTC+5:30 fixed to the 8.5 degree East meridian passing through Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. While this framework provides administrative uniformity, it creates two hours temporal mismatch for sever sister states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Maipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura and the Andaman and Nicobar Island where sunrise occurs for earlier than official working hours recognizance. This misalignment causes chronic disruption of the biological clock (circadian rhythm) of approximately 45 million residents, implicating the right to life under Article 21 of the constitution of India.
