Abstract
The digital economy in India is an emerging stage, contributing 11.74% to the GDP, which increased the GDP of India from 6.6%. Additionally, it employs 14.67 million workers in digital platforms and is related to digital economy. In the future, it is estimated to contribute 20% of GDP. Gross value added and Gross Fixed investment country’s economy by 2029-2030. The major driving force behind the digital economy model is the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). India’s real-time payment system, which contributed 79.4% of digital transactions in FY24 and is slowly moving towards achieving 100% cashless society, has become a dominant force. This study focuses on the relationship of UPI among business based on gender in BOP business, which is also known as the informal sector of the economy, including farmers, artisans, kirana shop owners, small service providers such as barbers and tailors, and microenterprises. Using stratified random sampling with 300 respondents and a structured Likert scale and ranking method questionnaire, the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP). The study states that UPI adoption is highly significant due to the type of users (Digitalization, demonetization, and COVID-19) and has direct Economic and Financial impact challenges including digital literacy, digital divide, lack of awareness, and concerns regarding fraud and technical. but despite these challenges, UPI has shown growth compared to other digital payment tools. The penetration of UPI will benefit by providing transparency and records of transactions, its earnings real-time payment system, reduce the User-Friend in interface. This study contributes to increasing financial inclusion, reducing the digital divide, and improving digital infrastructure to expand the Use of UPI at the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP), which has the potential to transform the country’s overall economy and achieve sustainable economic development.
