Abstract:
This study highlights the characters in Joseph Heller’s “Closing Time” antagonize the enduring trauma of war and reflective impacts on their existence. Trauma is woven throughout the novel to highlight the characters ongoing psychological suffering and the lasting effects of wartime experiences who have been severely damaged by their combat experiences characters like Yossarian struggles with survivor’s guilt and war-induced memories influencing his mental-being. Their experiences in the war, many of the characters in "Closing Time" struggle with PTSD and other mental health problems. “Closing Time” explores the theme of resilience in the face of misfortune, emphasizing how adaptable strong and even successful people can thrive in the most challenging circumstances. fostering the resilience makes an individual to have fortitude in hope and salvation in the midst of turmoil in post-war America
