This study delineates about the role of Gender and Parenting in raising their children and explains about the life we all lead today. A society always looks and expects a man to be the leader of his family who should guide and lead his family and women should follow and support him in all his ideas and decisions. If a man fails to realize his responsibilities towards his children and wife, then he is considered as failure in his life. Such is the failure of Bob Slocum the Protagonist, in the novel “Something Happened” written by an American Writer Joseph Heller. Bob Slocum the Protagonist of the novel is a marketing executive in a corporate advertising company. Who has everything in his life but always feels an emptiness and hopelessness in his life. He becomes aware of his duty as a father towards his children. Though he lost his one son, he decides to take care of his elder son. He understands his responsibility in parenting his children and the gap between him and his family.
