Abstract
The representation of marginalized voices in literature serves as a crucial tool for exposingsystemic oppression and reclaiming silenced identities. Khaled Hosseini’sA Thousand SplendidSuns (2007) is a poignant exploration of female subjugation, resilience, and solidarity in war-tornAfghanistan. The novel captures the intersection of gender, class, and political marginalizationthrough the intertwined lives of Mariam and Laila, two Afghan women bound by fate and sharedsuffering. This paper examines how Hosseini’s narrative gives voice to the marginalizedparticularly women-within the patriarchal, war-ravaged, and religiously restrictive Afghansociety. Drawing from feminist and postcolonial perspectives, this article discusses howHosseini’s portrayal of women challenges the traditional silence surrounding female agency, transforms the private domestic sphere into a site of rebellion, and redefines motherhood, sacrifice, and endurance as acts of resistance.
