Abstract

Hash functions are introduced in Cryptography as tool to protect the integrand authenticity of information in late seventies. Later it plays a vital role in many fields like Computer science, Communication networks, Password security, Digital signature. This paper discusses the basics of Hash functions and their applications, properties and
also discusses the Algorithms of Hash functions and their limitations.Now a day the security and authenticity of information are very essential and Hash functions play a crucial role to solve the emerging challenges.
