Abstract

his study examines the intrinsic connection between the right to health and the right to livelihood, analyzing them as interdependent components of the fundamental right to life with dignity. While often treated as socio-economic goals, the right to health—encompassing physical, mental, and social well-being—and the right to a stable livelihood are increasingly recognized as justiciable rights under judicial interpretations of Article 21. This paper explores the constitutional, legal, and international frameworks that mandate the state to protect citizens' health through healthcare access and secure their livelihoods against economic, social, or environmental disruption. The study highlights that without a secure livelihood, the right to health remains unattainable for the vulnerable, emphasizing that economic stability is essential to maintain public health and dignified living standards. Through an analysis of judicial precedents, it concludes that the state holds a positive obligation to ensure access to healthcare and uphold the right to work, advocating for policies that prioritize human rights over capital accumulation
