Abstract

Melasma is a long-lasting condition that is characterized by the excess production of melanin in the skin due to hormone changes, exposure to ultraviolet light, and genetic factors. One of the main objectives of this research is to get the synergistic effect of various plant extracts known for their dermatological use in polyherbal formulation. The focus of the serum formulation is a mixture of herbs that is non-irritating and full of beneficial nutrients. The goal is to offer complete skincare, including skin nourishment, rejuvenation, and protection from environmental pollutants. The parameters for the assessment of the serum included physicochemical characteristics such as stability, pH, spreadability, and testing for pigmentation reduction efficacy. This study provides an alternative of herbal actives to depigmenting agents, thus facilitating a more sustainable, accessible, consumer-friendly way to treat pigmentation disorders, thereby being in line with the present-day trend of natural and environmentally sustainable skincare.
