ABSTRACT
Siddha medicine places great importance on prevention and health promotion, advocating for
specific regimens according to the season and time of day (pathiyam and apathiyam). The system uses a wide range of therapies, including purgative, oleation, fasting, emetic, steam, physical, bloodletting, solar, and yoga therapies, as well as Kayakarpam (rejuvenation therapy)for longevity and disease prevention. Siddha practitioners employ herbal and mineral-based medicines, often derived from alchemy and iatrochemistry, to treat both acute and chronic diseases, including digestive, respiratory, genito-urinary, circulatory, and metabolic disorders.
