Abstract

This study examines the key aspects of the legal framework relating to social security for
Unorganised workers in India. It explores the various forms of vulnerability and lack of
protection faced by workers in the informal sector, identifies the categories of workers covered,
and analyses the responsibilities of the State and institutions in providing welfare benefits. The
study also discusses existing schemes, implementation mechanisms, challenges in accessing
benefits, and the legal and practical gaps that affect the effectiveness of social security
measures.
