Abstract

The study examines the role of microfinance in empowering Self-Help Group (SHG) members in selected northern districts of Tamil Nadu. It evaluates how microfinance interventions improve income generation, living standards, and decision-making power among SHG members. The paper also identifies major implementation challenges such as high-interest rates, bureaucratic hurdles, and limited awareness, while recommending strategies for strengthening financial literacy and microfinance delivery systems.
