Abstract

Banking 5.0: AI-Driven Fintech Solutions for Bridging the Digital Divide in India Mutyala Sridurga

Banking 5.0 represents the next intelligent chapter in financial services, a world where Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and smart data analytics come together to create banking that feels truly personal, proactive, and inclusive for everyone. India has made significant strides through its Digital Public Infrastructure, particularly Aadhaar, UPI, and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), which have opened millions of bank accounts and facilitated billions of transactions. Yet, a stubborn digital divide still shuts out vast numbers of people in rural areas and low-income communities, held back by limited digital skills, patchy infrastructure, and simple fear of technology. This paper explores how AI-powered FinTech solutions within Banking 5.0 can genuinely help close this gap. Drawing on secondary data from RBI reports, the World Bank’s Global Findex, and the latest industry studies (2025–2026), it examines practical applications, including AI-based credit scoring for the unbanked, voice-enabled chatbots that speak regional languages, real-time fraud detection, and personalised financial guidance. The findings are encouraging: integrating AI can boost meaningful financial inclusion by 20–30% in underserved regions while significantly cutting operational costs for banks. At the same time, the study highlights key challenges, including data privacy concerns, algorithmic bias, and the need for stronger regulations. The paper concludes with clear, practical recommendations for policymakers, banks, and FinTech companies on how to build a truly inclusive Banking 5.0 ecosystem—one that leaves no one behind in India’s digital journey.
