Abstract

The advancement in healthcare applications has shown a drastic use of digital and internet technology for diagnosing the diseases and treatments. The personal health information is so sensitive and important that it has to be protected by maintaining its integrity and confidentiality. Now a days the medical record transmission including videos and images such as MRI, CT scan, X-rays and so on has been increased. Hence it is important to ensure the secure transmission and protection from the unauthorized exposure of these health records. Visual Cryptography has been identified as one the solution for ensuring this multimedia transmission. In this paper we summaries various approaches used in medical image encryption by visual cryptography, their performance metrics and challenges.
